Extracurricular Activities

When you stand in the middle of our campus and slowly turn in a circle, here's what you see: orange-hued mountains, flowering meadows, the aspens and evergreens of Manti La Sal National Forest, the bright blue sky. It's clean. It's fresh. It's full of adventure - and our Outdoor Program gets your student out of his desk chair and into nature, where he can hike, climb, ski, snowboard, skate, paddle, orienteer, backpack, learn wilderness survival techniques. We're surrounded by a national forest and within a short drive of six national parks (Bryce Canyon, Zion, Canyonlands, Arches, Escalante Grand Staircase, and Capitol Reef).

Far from the noise of the city and the distractions of suburban sprawl, your student can focus on what matters - his education.

At Wasatch Academy we work hard and we play hard. After a day of strong academics we utilize our afternoon time to enhance the classroom through a variety of physical, creative and exciting classes and activities. Afternoon classes can range from rock climbing one day, to working on a film project the next. Throughout the course of the year each student will have the opportunity to participate in intramural or varsity team sports, engage in community service and a host of other activities based on their interests and needs.

Wasatch Academy offers a full range of artistic training and creative outlets for your student, including dance, jazz, modern, hip-hop, Pilates, choreography, yoga, photography, graphic design, interior design, ceramics, stained glass, painting, drawing, sculpture, art appreciation, small group ensemble, guitar, piano, drums, play production, stagecraft, acting/comedy, theatre, and film.

Additionally, your student finds time to explore any number of endeavors that build his strength, confidence, and sense of responsibility.  Our extracurriculars include fencing, rock climbing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, skiing, debate, international class, skateboarding, BMX biking, hiking, ultimate Frisbee, kayaking, canoeing, whitewater rafting, strength training, student government, horseback riding, aikido, swimming/lifesaving, literary magazine, Student Ambassadors, and Prefects.
