Student Leadership

Wasatch Academy's students are encouraged to participate in student leadership on all levels of campus life.

Ambassador Program

STUCO

At Wasatch Academy, student council (STUCO) is a robust part of student life as student elected peer leaders serve their school and community and contribute greatly to the variety of student activities, academics, service, residential life, athletics, and student handbook and honor code. STUCO members help organize and create monthly and weekly activities, oversee student lead special interest groups, and give voice to their peers as they lead the school in behavior and word. The STUCO officers each serve as a Head student over a specific area and coordinate together to give a collective voice to the student body. The current positions are:

  • Head Student
  • Vice-Head Student
  • Secretary
  • Head of Recreation
  • Head of Athletics
  • Head International Student
  • Head Day Student
  • Head Prefect (one male and one female)
  • Head of Service (current National Honor Society President)
  • Head Honor Student (current Honor Council President)

Class Officers

Class officers play an important role in leadership at Wasatch Academy. Class officers serve as a liaison between their classmates and the larger student body. At the beginning of the school year, students elect peers to spearhead class fundraising and special events. These events include Junior Prom, class trips and parties, and interclass challenges. Class officers work closely with the All School Student Council to come up with a variety of exciting and inspiring activities for their peers. Additionally, class officers work with faculty class sponsors on designing and running events, meet monthly with STUCO to share ideas and calendar of events, and to collaborate on school wide activities.

Community Service

Community service activities are planned to address student interests and community needs. They can be season-specific.

Students are encouraged to participate in as many of the community service activities as possible. Students may also plan community service activities for the school or their advisee group with permission from the Wasatch Academy administration.

Limitations on Leadership

A student may not hold two major offices (i.e. student council office, class president, editor of publication) unless specifically authorized by the Dean of Students. If a student is in need of either academic or behavioral improvement, he/she may be removed from any major leadership position for a period of time to be determined by the Dean of Students or Honor Council. The final consideration of eligibility for any school leadership position rests with the Dean of Students or Head of School.
