Our physical activity requirement is similar to many other boarding high schools. We want our students to develop mentally, physically and emotionally. At Wasatch Academy, we pride ourselves in the variety of ways our students can fulfill this credit.
Often overlooked, cheerleading is a sport that doesn’t get the credit it deserves. This sport can shape students into dedicated and hardworking people, which is something that they can carry with them throughout their entire lives.
Responsibilities of a Wasatch Academy Cheerleader
Cheerleaders at boarding high schools are leaders for the rest of the school to model his or herself after. At Wasatch Academy we expect our cheerleaders to meet or exceed all of our academic and honor standards.
In addition to that, our cheerleaders are expected to promote school spirit at the school and in the community. Our team of hardworking individuals represents Wasatch Academy with respect, pride and positive attitudes. By being involved around campus, these students can be positive role models for the faculty, staff and students.
Why Be a Cheerleader?
Cheerleading is a sport built on teamwork. A group of individuals with unique skill sets work together and build a puzzle of the involved athletes. When people rely on each other to do their part and trust each other, they understand the importance of being there for each other. This teamwork follows them through life and into the work place.
Boarding high schools create environments that continually build confidence. We search for opportunities to build this inner strength in all parts of our lives. By cheerleading at Wasatch Academy, these students can build confidence for themselves and create positivity for others around them.
Our cheerleaders continue to set goals and work together to achieve everything they set their mind to. When these students graduate, they have scholarships available to them that they wouldn’t have found otherwise. By being part of one team, doors will open for them for the rest of their lives.
