When you’re a kid, mom and dad know best. No matter the issue, you know that they’re going to have an answer. When you take the leap to attend a college prep boarding school, it’s a commitment to finding your pathway to self-sufficiency.
If things at school become a burden for you to handle, don’t be afraid to ask for help. But remember, small problems around your dorm room can usually be solved simply if you have the right tools at your disposal. And your dorm parent is always there to help.
You’ve Stained Your Clothes
When you were at home your parents taught you the basics of laundry, now you get to test that knowledge by not ruining a new shirt with a simple stain.
Lucky for you, by keeping pre-laundry spray in your dorm room you can keep your clothes in excellent condition. If you act quick enough the stain won’t have time to set in and will be easy to remove when you launder your clothes.
You’re Suffering From a Stomach Ache
Stomach aches happen. It can result from too much junk food, or even a high stress level. For those minor queasy stomachs an emergency kit of ginger ale and saltine crackers may be all you need to settle your stomach back down. (Of course, if things worsen, always follow proper school medical procedures.)
You Have a Hard Time Keeping Track of Things
Before taking off to your college prep boarding school, your parents probably took some time to teach you about organization. Don’t let their efforts go to waste. If they taught you about budgeting, track your spending. If you lose keys easily, find a lanyard to keep them on.
The wisdom your parents shared with you before you left home is the kind of thing you can carry with you throughout your life.
