Decorating your dorm room is an exciting aspect of living at Wasatch Academy. We keep the dorm rooms very simple so that you can personalize them to match your personality and needs. If you’re stuck or confused on ways to decorate your dorm room then try some of these ideas!
Washi tape is a popular decorating tool at boarding high schools because it is so versatile and doesn’t peel off paint. Try making a geometric wall mural with the tape or use it to line your shelves. It’s relatively inexpensive and comes in an array of different designs.
Photographs are a great way to bring a little part of your life at home into your dorm at Wasatch Academy. They also show your personality and can bring life to your walls without needing thumbtacks. Try stringing your photos along some lights or simply making a college with them. We suggest that you use poster putty to hang them.
It is important that you pick a bed cover that you love because you will be sleeping under it every night. It may be best to pick a duvet with neutral colors so that it can easily match the rest of your room. You may also want to bring an additional set of linens because students are required to wash their sheets on a weekly basis.
Add a bold rug to your room décor. Rugs are often a forgotten decorating aspect for students at boarding high schools but they will make your room feel significantly cozier while also adding a pop of color. If you choose to bring a large rug then check with your roommate first because it will likely be on their side of the room as well.
Plants are a simple and fun way to liven up your dorm room. They add color and can make your room smell fresher — something that we know all students at boarding high schools struggle with. If you think you may struggle to taking care of a plant then try getting a succulent because they don’t need much water.
