Emmanuel Akot first came to Wasatch Academy in September 2015, and was quickly noticed by college basketball recruiters by December 2015. This 6-foot-7 wing from Canada, hasn’t failed to impress recruiters and is currently ranked 12th for 2018 recruits from high-schools and private boarding schools.
Other private boarding schools dream of a wing like Akot. He is a great passer in transition as well as in the half court. Akot is an aggressive offensive player and is always looks to make plays in transition. He finishes well at the basket, but also finds and passes to open teammates for easy baskets. Defensively, Akot is able to effectively defend multiple positions.
With us at Wasatch Academy, Akot will continue to develop as an athlete. He attributes his improvements of his jump shot and aggressive mentality to our basketball program. Akot wants to improve on his strength and defense and we look forward to working with him after the summer.
This summer, Akot will be playing for Canada in the FIBA U17 World Championship in Spain. In the championship Akot will play against top players from high schools and private boarding schools from around the world. FIBA U17 games will be held between June 23rd and July 3rd. We look forward to watching Akot’s games and we will be cheering him on all the way from Mt. Pleasant, Utah.
Currently Akot has college scholarship offers from Utah, Oregon, Virginia Tech and Connecticut. He’s even starting to draw the attention of UCLA. While Akot has only visited Utah’s college campus, he intends to visit all these schools before making any decisions. By the end of the summer and after the World Championship, more universities are likely to have their eyes on Akot.
We are very proud of Akot, and we are excited to see all that he will achieve in his basketball career.
