Private boarding schools are an integral aspect of a community — specifically in a smaller community like Mt. Pleasant. Wasatch Academy plays a key role in the Mt. Pleasant community, whether it’s infusing an element of world diversity within the community through an international student body, supplementing the community’s core values through service projects, or broadening the intellectual horizons of community members with new, progressive ideas.
Diversity Helps a Healthy Community Thrive
The small, cozy community of Mt. Pleasant provides the ideal backdrop for the diverse student body at Wasatch Academy. We know that a healthy community thrives when elements of diversity, mutual respect and kindness come together to collectively contribute to and enrich the local community — both within the Wasatch Academy campus and around it. The unique student body of private boarding schools offer communities a new perspective on their surroundings — whether intellectually, socially or interpersonally.
Our Commitment to Local Community Service
Most private boarding schools don’t purely exist for academic reasons, however. Wasatch Academy has made community service in Mt. Pleasant an integral aspect of our core values. We believe that students benefit the most when they’re engaged in productive, healthy relationships with their surrounding communities; for this reason, our students volunteer in the surrounding Mt. Pleasant area on a consistent basis. Whether it’s partnering with Habitat for Humanity, volunteering at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary or helping out at the local soup kitchen, our students forge dynamic, beneficial relationships with those in the surrounding community.
All School Community Service Day
It’s a Wasatch Academy tradition for students to work with advisee groups on a variety of community service projects. Known as the All School Community Service Day, we cancel classes and focus solely on enriching our local community — while simultaneously allowing our students to experience the rich benefits of self-less service. Students might be putting together hygiene kits for global humanitarian efforts or cleaning up the local highway; at Wasatch Academy, we never stick to the same old routine, especially when it comes to enriching our local community.
