Students who are heading off to their college prep boarding schools aren’t just getting ready for a school year packed with life changing experiences. When preparing for boarding school, your student is actually taking necessary practice steps for the day they go off to college and eventually move out on their own.
Knowing how to pack for where they’re going is incredibly important. At Wasatch Academy, we are proud to be home of students from all over the world. But these students don’t always know what to expect when it comes to the four-season weather of Mount Pleasant. By following our ultimate packing guide, every parent can be assured that their student will have everything they need, and every student can be ready to take on the year ahead of them.
The Four Season Staples
Wasatch Academy is set apart from other college prep boarding schools in the seasonal weather that we experience. The only thing you can be sure of is the fact that you’ll never know what to expect. It’s important to keep some all season staples in your student’s closet for the days when the unexpected snowstorm hits. These items include a pair of pants, a pair of shorts, a light shirt and an all season jacket.
An all season jacket, meaning a jacket with removable fleece liner, is a necessity for Utah weather. The outside layer will double as a windbreaker or rain shell. The inside can typically be zipped into the jacket to work as a fleece liner to keep students warm even when snow is falling.
When packing your students for their college prep boarding schools, you can prepare for all Utah weather by remembering the three S’s: sneakers, sandals and snow boots.
Sneakers are best for the spring and fall days when you aren’t expecting wet weather and don’t have to dress up. Sandals are ideal for the warm weather, and a pair of waterproof snow boots is absolutely necessary to survive a Utah winter.
