The house was packed as students took the stage at the Music Conservatory to present the annual Winter Music Festival on Saturday, December 10, 2017. The event welcomed in the holiday season and was a great way to celebrate the end of the semester. The event was presented by both seasoned performers and students appearing on the stage for the first time ever.
The recital offered a diverse range of genres and musical complexity with performances by soloists, pianists, and violinists, and special pieces by the Wasatch Academy International Percussion Ensemble and Vocal Ensemble. Students performed original pieces by artists such as Lindsey Sterling, Franz Drdia, Panic at the Disco, Jon Schmidt, Bob Wells and Mel Torme, and Adele to name a few.
Head of the Fine Art Department, Matt Schukis said, “Music is a wonderful gift to share and our students gave wonderful performances. It is always satisfying to work with our music students, either as soloists or as part of an ensemble.”
Schukis continued, “My hope is that the recital serves as a springboard for things to come and that even more students get involved next semester.”
