MT PLEASANT —It has been over 20+ years since the North Sanpete Hawks and Wasatch Academy Tigers played a game against each other on home turf.
The Tigers gave the Hawks quite a run with a 22 point lead at the half. Senior Manuely De Oliveira dominated the scoreboard securing 21 points for the Tigers supported by Freshman Nataly Dunka locking in 13 points. The Tigers wrapped up yet another win finishing the game 60 – 18.
Though the Hawks were overwhelmed by the skill and athleticism of the Tigers, North Sanpete Head Girls Basketball Coach Randi Griffith said, “The Hawks were great sports with great attitudes tonight. We are excited to continue working hard and playing against Wasatch Academy in many future games.”
The Tigers are showing signs of being unstoppable into this season. Currently, the team holds the number 1 spot in the 2A Region, 17 Division and are 9-0 on the season. Head Coach Tony Giannotti stated, “I am excited about how well the girls are performing this season. The girls have stuck out some hard games this season and just refuse to lose.”
The Tigers play their next game on Thursday, January 11 when they will take on American Prep West Valley at 7 pm.
