The Science department chair is Dr. David Roth, Ph.D., who completed his graduate work at the University of California, Berkeley in the Department of Integrative Biology and then performed 3.5 years of postdoctoral research at the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine. Dr. Roth began his teaching career as an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado. Yong Kim earned his B.Sc. degree in Physics from UCSD and then earned his Masters in Education (M.Ed.) from Stanford University.
The math department chair is Dr. Zebidiah Engberg, Ph.D., whose doctorate from Dartmouth College is in number theory. Emma Chiappetta earned her master’s in mathematics from Dartmouth with a focus on Riemannian geometry. The math team at this private boarding school is coached by these two gifted teachers and has achieved renown in tournament competitions.
The chair of the social studies department is Dr. Brandon Hartley, Ph.D., who earned his doctorate in Early Modern European History from the University of Arizona. His colleague, Dr. Jason Friedman, Ph.D., documented the Imperial Presidency for his doctoral work at Michigan State and now teaches American history and AP government.
Performing Arts is chaired by Matthew Schukis, whose graduate work was completed at the New England Conservatory of Music, where he earned his Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance with Distinction in Performance (Honors). The private school hosts concerts year-round in its world-class Music Conservatory.
Alyssa Wolf teaches American Literature, AP Literature and composition. She earned her B.A. from Wellesley College with a double major in English and Women’s Studies and her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Nova Southern University. Matt Duncan received his first M.A. in English Literature and then earned his second M.A. in Communications. Courtney Cook has her Master’s in Fine Arts in Creative writing.
