After practicing and preparing the entire semester, students showed off their many talents during the annual Winter Arts Showcase on December 9, 2018. Students and other community members filled the Music Conservatory for a night of entertainment. The event welcomed in the holiday season and was presented by both seasoned performers and students appearing on the stage for the first time.
The showcase offered a diverse range of performances including dancers, soloists, pianists, and violinists, and special pieces by the Wasatch Academy International Percussion Ensemble, String Ensemble, and Vocal Ensemble. Students performed original pieces by artists such as BTS, Antonio Vivaldi, Harry Warren, Lindsey Sterling, Edith Piaf, BLACKPINK, Florist, and Labrinth to name a few.
Head of the Performing Art Department, Matt Schukis said, “The performing arts are a wonderful gift to share and our students gave wonderful performances. It is always satisfying to work with our students, either as soloists or as part of an ensemble.”
Schukis continued, “My hope is that the showcase serves as a springboard for things to come and that even more students get involved next semester.”
