The oldest residence hall, built in 1913. Sophomore and Junior boys fill the 48 beds available among the 4 floors. Finks is an energetic dorm. The atmosphere of community is strong. The lounge and kitchen combination creates a “homey” feeling as students often enjoy food together at the kitchen table. There is a beautiful, covered, and very large porch welcoming those who enter the dorm, which is a great spot for BBQ’s, study groups, or just relaxing.
Dorm Parent: Tyler Eliason
Tyler was born in northern California and raised in the Salt Lake Valley. He graduated from Bingham High School then enrolled at the University of Utah (U of U), where he played on the drumline for three years. His first year of college brought cool opportunities including marching in President Obama’s 2008 inaugural parade in DC. He went on a church service mission for two years in central Paraguay then returned to the U of U. He married Shelby (WA girls volleyball coach) and has three little Wasatch Tiger fans.
Tyler loves music and film, and just about any type of adventure outdoors.
After years of difficulty in “deciding what I want to be when I grow up”, he completed his Bachelor of Art in Film and Media Arts. He does freelance work in the film industry as well as run a small commercial video business with a partner in Salt Lake. He did three years of full-time video work for a non-profit parenting website where he learned valuable skills he regularly applies into his home life and looks forward to implementing with the boys in the Finks Dorm. Tyler helped coach the “black and orange” boys basketball teams last year and is excited for the opportunity to build new relationships and do his part in growing Wasatch Academy’s best Sophomore class yet!
