EDUCATION

MS Microbiology, California Polytechnic University, Pomona

Ellen has a wide range of experience as an educator and holds a Master of Science in Microbiology from California Polytechnic University, Pomona. For several years, Ellen taught undergraduate-level courses in microbiology at CSULB and worked during the summer months as a public health department educator for the city of Long Beach, California.

Ellen has served as a Utah State Science and Engineering Fair mentor and judge for 10 years. She has also worked extensively for the Utah Department of Natural Resources as a wildlife and natural history educator.

Prior to coming to Wasatch Academy, Ellen started a social studies-based cultural diversity arts program at the Salt Lake City Public Library where she worked with middle school and high school students, creating contextual artwork for regular exhibitions at the library.

She has been the Wasatch Academy Learning Coach Coordinator for the past 7 years; before that, she worked as the costumer and set design coordinator for the Theatre Arts Department. Ellen has two very talented and successful daughters who are a major source of inspiration. She currently enjoys living in the quiet, rural community of Mount Pleasant, Utah.
