Monica Peterson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW, who spent the first twenty years of her career as an educator in high school and higher education settings before becoming a therapist. Her experience working with adolescents and young adults in an educational setting has given her the expertise and tools to professionally navigate her work as a Mental Health Counselor at Wasatch Academy. 

Monica uses a combination of modalities in her day to day work such as DBT, CBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing and IFS. She is certified in ART, (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) as well as a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist-Individual (CCTS-I), has training in grief and loss, Yoga TT 200, and loves teaching students about emotional regulation skills. Monica also teaches a Wellness Perspectives class that includes Mindfulness, Meditation, Distress Tolerance, Self-Compassion and Suicide Awareness.

Monica is originally from California and Nevada, but has spent the majority of her adult years in Utah. She is also of Mexican descent and bilingual in English and Spanish. Monica loves traveling, the outdoors, photography, being near the ocean and chocolate.
